Christmas Season

31 December 2011

How cute is this little face?!!?!

He looks so much like his daddy it isn't even funny! Carson has quite the personality too, which is becoming more and more evident every day. I cherish every moment I have with him, and the holidays were no exception this year.
The weekend before Christmas we went down to Sandy, Utah to spend the weekend with Jason's grandparents. We really love spending time with them! They love Carson so much and they constantly spoil us with yummy food. This trip was no exception. In fact, Jason's grandparents paid for Jason and I to ride the lift to the top of the mountain at the Snowbird Resort while they watched Carson. It was quite the view and we really enjoyed it!!
We took a picture of Carson with his great grandparents and it turned out so cute! You can really see how much they adore him and how cool he thinks they are. He had Grandpa Hileman wrapped around his finger!!
We also had the chance to spend some time with my brother, Zach, and his wife, Haleigh. We went to temple square to look at the lights. Carson was in LOVE with the lights. I love the feeling on Temple Square and I love being there at Christmas. I love walking through the nativity scene and being reminded of what Christmas is truly all about.

I have always had a special place in my heart for the Salt Lake Temple, and seeing it from the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building was amazing for me! I am so grateful for temples and the sacred covenants we make inside.
After the temple we headed to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner! I had been craving crab for weeks and was super excited. Jason's grandpa made the best King Crab for us earlier, and it only fueled the fire. :)
The few weeks leading up to Christmas, Carson's favorite place to hang out was under the Christmas tree. I would often find him sitting under there just looking up at all the ornaments. He loved the lights and would walk up to the tree and point and say, "wow!" It was really cute.
On Christmas Eve we went to a movie and out to eat with my family. Carson was so tired that he fell asleep and we laid him in his cousin's car seat. I don't think he is going to be very happy about the pink blanket and car seat when he gets older......

Christmas Eve at Texas Roadhouse
Carson really enjoyed opening presents this year. He really got the hang of it after a while. He loves trucks right now and he got quite a few for Christmas. He also got lots of puzzles and learning toys. It was so cute to see how excited he would get about everything as he was opening it all.
My parents were able to come up for Christmas this year and spend the holidays with us. The night they got here we took them to Big Judd's for dinner with my sister, Carly, and her husband, Will. It was their first experience with the Big Judd burger.

Carson saw Santa and he actually did really good! I thought he would cry, but he didn't!! You could tell he wasn't sure what to think about the whole situation.
All in all we had a great year. We have been blessed with a great family and a Savior, who the season is truly about. We hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday season!

New little one on the way!

26 November 2011

Jason and I are expecting our second baby on June 2, 2012! We couldn't be more excited about it! I don't feel great, but I feel better than I did with Carson. My sense of smell is also extremely heightened, which I didn't notice with Carson at all.
Jason and I lost a baby earlier this year. I was 3 months along. It was devastating, to say the least. Because of that we had an early ultrasound this go around and everything looks great and healthy. We honestly couldn't be happier. Jason wants a boy....I'm good with either. I guess we will wait and see!

Tubes

19 October 2011

Carson has had so many ear infections that the doctor finally suggested that we get tubes in his ears. We woke up super early in the morning and got to the hospital at 5am so Carson could go into surgery. He looked so cute in his little gown and slippers with his diaper sticking out the back. He thought the nurse was pretty cute and he let her hold him while she entered stuff in the computer.

The nurses at the hospital gave him a little yellow bear to hold on to when he went into surgery. He thought that was pretty cool.
When they took him back to the prep room, they gave him a medicine to relax him so he wouldn't mind when they took him from us. It was HILARIOUS to watch him! He was so funny! He acted like he was drunk and smiled and laughed at everything. We have a video of it that I will try and post later.
He did great while he was in surgery and everything went really smooth. He was, however, super cranky from the anesthesia when he came out. They said he had such a large buildup in one ear that he almost didn't have any hearing out of it at all. We are so glad we got them in when we did or he could have had problems with his speech and balance. Hopefully this will slow down the amount of ear infections the poor little boy gets!

Blazin Challenge

15 October 2011

My parents came up for a visit and Jason and my dad decided to do the Blazin' Challenge at Buffalo Wild Wings. You have to eat 12 of their hottest wings in 6 minutes with nothing to drink and no napkins. It was pretty funny to watch!

Jason getting started
My dad finishing!
Sporting the shirts. What manly men....
"It's like walking on coals. Except you eat 'em."
Carson and my parents the morning they went home. It's always sad to see them go!

Candy Popcorn

02 October 2011

Last night while Jason was at the Priesthood session of General Conference, Carson and I went to the Draper's and made candy popcorn. I haven't let Carson have popcorn before, but he kept saying "mmmmmm" so I let him try some. He loved it!! He had a hand in each bowl. During conference today he sat there and ate more of it, giggling the entire time.

Sick Day

30 September 2011

I took Carson back to the doctor today because I didn't think his ear infection was going away, and sure enough it didn't. We are going to meet with a specialist about getting tubes put in his ears. After his appointment I took him home and we spent the afternoon together. He was been pretty crabby all day, but he brought me my apron and wanted me to put it on him. He thought it was so funny!! Kenya and Lois came down and we put an apron on Kenya and the two of them played so great together. They have so much fun. :)

Lois and I thought it would be fun to take Carson and Kenya to coldstone on Tuesday for their free ice cream night. The kiddos loved it! Gotta love free ice cream!

Glow sticks

Carson has another ear infection so he has been super crabby this week. We are thinking about getting tubes for the poor boy. :( He loves taking baths, so to cheer him up I thought we would try something new! I bought some glow sticks and put them in the tub with him while we turned out the lights. He loved it!!! He had to take them to bed with him that night.

Pumpkin Head

Poor little Carson fell off the couch on Monday and went head first into his Halloween pumpkin! He then flipped over onto his bum with the pumpkin on his head. He cut his nose and above his eye. Poor little Pumpkin Head! Mommy bought him a pumpkin head peez dispenser to make him feel better.
