Is it Spring yet?

29 March 2013

This time of year is probably the hardest time to live in Idaho. Everyone is so done with Winter and ready for warm weather, but we are still getting snow. Carson has been a little pill lately (more on that to come) and I know a lot of it has to do with him being ready to get some energy out. We try and keep busy around the house to make the time pass quickly.

Apparently spaghetti night was a success....

Sometimes we will venture out to a store just to get out of the house. This is me wishing Spring was here......I turned Brooklyn into a flower.
Brooklyn loves to play with my phone. In fact, she throws a fit if she can't have it when she wants it. I was looking through my pictures the other day and found these beauties. Brooklyn knows how to work the camera!!
Jason and I have been switching babysitting with another couple and it was worked out really well. Every other week we get to go have a date for a few hours. Most of the time its all I see of him all week and he goes right back to doing homework. I sure do miss having my hubby around, but I'm grateful I get to see him when I do. :)
I have been switching babysitting with a few of my friends so that we can take turns going to the temple during the day. It has been really nice to go, even if it is by myself, and I have truly felt the blessings of the temple come into our home. Carson loves having his friends come over on the days its our turn to babysit.

We have had our fair share of sickness the last few months. The kids got really bad colds and Brooklyn was pretty miserable. I'm so glad they are better now!
Aunt Carly bought Carson some new shirts and he loves them. I snapped this picture of Carson looking like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. :)
Brooklyn is at the stage where church is extremely difficult. She wants to move and go and 3 hours is a long stretch to not have a nap. I feel like I spend a lot of time out in the hall or in the foyer. If she wasn't so darn cute.....
We got to go to the mall with Ashley and the kids one day and the kids had a blast playing on the toys. We fit all 5 of them in the school bus and turned it on, which they thought was great! Going to the mall is always and adventure. By the time we left I'm sure everyone was glad we did. Screaming kids, cranky kids, noisy kids.....

Hurry up, Spring!! We are ready to play outside!!

Salt Lake Trip

18 March 2013

My brother, Zach, got a job in Washington as a State Trooper, and had a 2 weeks notice to move up there. My mom was coming up for her Spring Break and Ashley was already headed down for a wedding, so Carly and I decided to join in on the fun and go to Salt Lake for the weekend as well. My dad was able to come up for the weekend and we managed to get him a cheap flight back to Farmington. Jason was the only one not able to come because of homework. Let me tell ya, traveling as a single mom = no fun. Luckily I had my family there to help me and Carly and Will rode down with me, but it is still exhausting. I was glad to be home at the end of the weekend.
We started off the weekend with a little bit of Joe's Crab Shack. It's kinda turned into a tradition of ours to go with Zach and Haleigh when we are down in SLC. It was a little different not having Jason there to crack my crab for me.... A guy that worked there made the kids balloons, which was great entertainment. Carson got an airplane and Brooklyn got a flower. She tried to eat hers. Silly girl.
We made sure to get a hotel that had a swimming pool so we could take the kids swimming. They had a BLAST!! Brooklyn loved the water! I was a little surprised because Carson hated swimming at her age. He would cling on with a death grip and be on the verge of tears the entire time. Not Brooklyn! She was a pro! Carson even had a lot of fun this time. I still can't get him to jump into the pool, but we are working on that. He starts swimming lessons next month. :)
We spent a lot of the day on Saturday at the City Creek Mall. Carson loves the water fountains there and wanted to watch them for quite a while. He has the best facial expressions. You can tell what he is thinking the entire time. It is fun to sit back and watch him sometimes.
Loading up the car with Papa. He got to ride on the luggage cart. He thought it was awesome!
My kiddos love their Papa! Probably because he shares his soda with them. :)
By the time we went home, Carson and Brooklyn were both spent. They both fell asleep as soon as we left SLC and didn't wake up until outside Pocatello. Carson's stick from his chocolate dipped marshmellow stayed in his hand the entire trip.

9 months already?!?

12 March 2013

My little sweetie is 9 months old!! I can't believe how fast time flies. We went in for her appointment today and she was all smiles. She must have known that she didn't have to get shots today.
Weight: 16 lbs 12 ounces - 22%
Height: 27 inches - 19%
Head: 17 1/2 inches - 63%
This little girl is so fun to be around. She is such a fast crawler and is trying to walk on her own. She loves her mommy and will follow me around the house. Her favorite thing is for me to hold her. She loves water. Bath time is her favorite time of day and when we went swimming she was in heaven. She likes to drop things and then say "uh-oh!" She likes to eat real food and loves playing with Carson. She has a little attitude and getting her dressed or changing her diaper is a 3 person job. Right now she has 3 1/2 teeth. One of her top teeth has taken forever to come through and it looks pretty funny. Her hair is out of control and it's a struggle to get her to let me fix it. She is pretty much sleeping through the night now, which is great. We really love our little girl!! Everyday is a new adventure and I'm looking forward to seeing her grow.

Dr. Seuss Week

06 March 2013

Last week was Dr. Seuss week and I decided that we were going to celebrate it at our house too! I'm really tired of winter and I thought this would give us a good distraction from not being about to go play outside.
On Wednesday we had Cat in the Hat day. We made our own hats and decorated them however we wanted. Carson loves to glue things, so he really enjoyed this craft. He is also obsessed with buttons ever since we went to the library and learned the "Button, Button" game. He chose to decorate his hat with buttons, pom poms, and some pipe cleaners.
We tried to get Brooklyn in on the fun since I made her a hat, but this was her reaction. She tore the hat off her head anytime I tried to put it on. At least Carson was happy!
As part of Cat in the Hat day we also made Thing 1 and Thing 2 handprints. It was probably one of my favorite activities with Carson. He would giggle when I painted his hand because it tickled, and he thought it was so cool the way it turned out. Brooklyn was little miss cranky pants, so she went to sleep in her swing. She was even mad about that because I found her asleep in the position she is normally in when she is trying to get out of her swing.
Thursday was One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish day and we had some friends over to celebrate with us. We made fish shaped cookies and decorated them and ate some fish snacks. We had Swedish fish in blue jello and gold fish. Brooklyn was in a MUCH better mood. :) We also made fish with finger paints and our hands. Even Brooklyn made one!! She wasn't very fond of the whole experience, but I forced her to do it. Her little hand prints are so cute!
Friday we ended with Green Eggs and Ham. We didn't do anything too crazy because we already had a busy day ahead of us, but we did eat green eggs and ham for breakfast. Carson thought the green eggs were really funny, especially when I put ketchup on them for him.
We had such a fun week celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday! We even got to have cake on his birthday because Brock celebrated his birthday that day.  I love spending time with my kiddos.
