Boo at the Zoo

29 October 2013

Last year we went to "Boo at the Zoo" and loved it, so we decided to go again this year. Jason was in class every night of the week, so we really wanted to go at a time when he could go. On Monday night he had a break between classes and that was the only time we would have enough time to go together. The week before Halloween we had BEAUTIFUL weather - the week of Halloween was awful. The Monday night we were going to "Boo at the Zoo" was rainy and cold. We decided to brave it anyways since the next few nights were supposed to be just as bad and Jason wouldn't be able to go.
We bundled everyone up, grabbed some umbrellas, and went for it. Carly came with us and it was a huge help. We had someone else to help keep the kiddos dry and warm. Brooklyn stayed wrapped up in her stroller, covered in blankets and seemed quite cozy. Carson trudged along in the rain and had a blast, despite the cold. He loved all of the lights and especially loved the Giraffe that followed us around. After "Boo at the Zoo" he started putting his slippers on his hands and pretending to be the giraffe at home.
We had lots of fun, but by the time we were done we were all freezing. We came home and I put the kids in a nice warm bath and we all had a cup of hot chocolate. "Boo at the Zoo" is going to be a tradition we continue as long as we live in Idaho Falls.

Boo at the Zoo

29 October 2012

On Monday night, we went to Boo at the Zoo for Family Home Evening. Jason met me there in between his classes and Carly met me there after she got off work. Ashley was so busy moving and preparing for Young Women in Excellence that I took Kenzlee, Brock, and Joslynn for the night. We had 5 kids under the age of 6! Lots of fun but quite the handful.
The Zoo was decorated with lights, decorations, blow up characters throughout the entire thing and it was really cool! The kids took it all in with wide eyes.

They had a big straw maze that the kids went through with Jason and Carly. Brooklyn and I had to meet them at the end because you couldn't take a stroller through.

Carson was mesmerized by this big inflatable cat on top of the roof. He kept staring at it and telling Jason that the cat was stuck.

They had a stage set up with hay bales and the radio station had fun halloween dance music playing. They let the kids go up on stage and dance their hearts out. Carson and Kenzlee went up there and Carson danced and jumped and laughed. It was really cute.
Miss Brooklyn was such a good little owl and just hung out in the stroller the whole time. She did such a good job! She didn't get fussy until the very end.
We really enjoyed Boo at the Zoo and we will probably do it every year from now on! The kids liked it and it looked amazing.

Zoo Trip!

14 September 2012

This week, Carson, Brooklyn, and I went to the zoo. We are trying to enjoy doing things outside while we still can. Normally when we go to the zoo we go with friends, but this time I thought it would be fun to go by ourselves. I let Carson lead the way since he knows where all of the animals are and we took our time. He wanted to stay and watch the ducks and pelicans for a while, he talked to the lions, and he chatted with the monkeys. Brooklyn was such a sweetie in her car seat and she just enjoyed the sunshine.

Zoo visit and bloody nose

21 April 2012

Yesterday was a nice day so we met some friends at the Zoo! It was our first Zoo visit of the season, and Carson was a lot more interested this year then he was last year.
One of Carson's favorite things to do it make animal sounds, especially the noises the monkey makes. He had fun playing with this little monkey and making the sounds with it!
Playing with the monkey through the glass
So excited to pet the goats!
Petting the goat!
Getting a drink from the lion head water fountain
With Noah on the Tiger! He didn't want to look at the camera. :)
He had a lot of fun at the zoo and then we came home and had a BBQ with some family. Carson was playing downstairs when I heard a loud noise and Carson started crying. I ran down the stairs to find him face down at the bottom of the stairs. I don't know if he fell down the stairs, or fell and hit his face on the bottom step, but either way he hit his nose and there was blood everywhere. Poor baby! Once we got him (and Mommy) all cleaned up we determined that his nose probably wasn't broken, but the poor baby sure did hit it hard! I have to give a shout out to PreSpot for getting all of the blood out of my favorite hoodie! Not a drop left and it was pretty much soaked!

Zoo Day!

20 June 2011

Attempt at a family picture
Chasing the birds
Pointing at the Monkeys

Saturday was Zoo Day! Melaleuca gives their employees free tickets to the zoo for their families and we decided to take Carson! He didn't feel very good so we didn't get very many smiles out of him, but we had a lot of fun. We saw lots of animals and Carson liked the monkeys the best. They also have an area with birds that run around and Carson thought it was funny to chase the birds. :)

Feeding Giraffes

03 January 2011

While we were in Colorado Springs for Christmas we went to Zoo Lights! It was amazing! The entire zoo was covered in Christmas lights and since the zoo is on the side of a mountain you can see the entire city below. We got to feed giraffes! It was awesome! They had long black tongues and one of them thought Carson tasted yummy. We fed them crackers and got to pet them. I love the family picture at the bottom that the giraffe thought he should be a part of..... :)
